Plastic Matchbook Covers

Plastic matchbook covers
Floating down a gutter stream
All used up and tossed away
Like an old forgotten dream

Some still hold reminders
Of what was once inside
Stuck inside the crevice
Where they like to hide

Plastic matchbook covers
The colors all are faded
Got no rhyme or reason
And sometimes slightly jaded

Fragments of a match head
Perhaps the final one
Cling on in the hopes
Of exploding in the sun.
