College Football 2016 Post-Season Awards Recap & Bowl Preview

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, not Christmas. The college football bowl season, also known as Capital One Bowl Mania. It seems everything these days has a corporate sponsor. It’s the best of times, and the worst of times because these are the final games of the season. The final game is the National Championship game played on January 9th. Washington Huskies. Alabama Crimson Tide. Ohio State Buckeyes. Clemson Tigers. Who will win it all? Who do you think it will be and who do you want it to be? I’d love to see Washington dethrone the mighty Alabama dynasty in the Peach Bowl and beat the winner between Ohio State and Clemson. It’s the outside of outside shots, the Cinderella underdog. I don’t care. That’s what makes sports great. Why not Washington? They’ve got a great coach, capable quarterback, star receivers, solid defense with a star defensive back. I’ll do a pre-Christmas and post-Christmas bowl recap, and a final recap of the end of the season rankings after the championship game.

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson hoisted the Heisman over the weekend in New York City. It’s been his since the end of September when the left-over favorites from a year ago fell out of favor. It was his to win, and only his. Jackson won with 2,144 votes while Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was second with 1,524. Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield (361), Oklahoma receiver Dede Westbrook (209), and Michigan all round player Jabrill Peppers (208) rounded out the top five.

Army upset Navy in winning their rivalry game for the first time since 2001. After the 21-17 victory, Army cadets stormed the field. It’s been a long time since Army had a decent season. They’re going bowling this year.

Speaking of going bowling, below I have a few things to share. The first is the post-season award winners. There’s a list of every bowl with teams, records, times, and places. I’ll also pick a winner for each game. Let’s see how I do. Then the final College Football rankings going into the bowl season.
