December came and went, and while it brought brief flashes of snow, Winter’s true arrival seemed still on the horizon. The mountains knew, as the always know, that Winter’s icy clutches would arrive soon enough, and in the days leading up to the new year, Winter arrived in the mountains in all its frozen splendor. Once again, the mountains find themselves covered in small diamonds of frost. The crunch underfoot from both man and creature is unmistakable. Winter, when breath hangs in the air like smoke pouring from so many chimneys.
