I Miss Swimming in the (WordPress) Community Pool

wordpress

Do you remember the WordPress Community Pool? Did you ever go? They closed it over a year ago, maybe longer by this point. I can’t exactly remember. Every Monday a special blog opened for us WordPress bloggers to leave links asking our fellow bloggers to come by and read our posts, check out our blog presentation, and give us feedback. It was a great resource for new and veteran bloggers alike. I didn’t discover the Community Pool until I was a good year or so into my blogging career. The thing about the Community Pool is you could leave as many links as you liked. I made certain to share my poetry, relevant thought, or photography pieces. A great way to get more views for a piece, and overall exposure to a blog. I wish WordPress still had the Community Pool. I’ve seen a blogger or two try to do one on their own, but it wasn’t the same, nor did it have the same exposure. They died off as quick as they started. If anyone at WordPress reads this piece, please, PLEASE, bring back the Community Pool, or something similar. I can’t be the lone blogger who took a swim a few times every Monday, and I think, I know, the Community Pool’s value as a resource for all us bloggers, new and veteran.

I remember the community pool was such an easy and efficient way to interact with people here on WordPress– especially because I was starting out and very new to the platform. It makes me pretty sad to say that since the community pool ended, I’ve been struggling to see anything like the same amount of response to anything on my blog– and also struggling to find new blogs that peak my interests. It’s unfortunate, does anyone even know why they got rid of it?

I feel the same way. My views have gone done considerably. I have no idea why they canceled it. I never heard anything. It’s hard to find blogs you like and get interactions nowadays. It’s a struggle all the way around.

I do miss that sharing platform as well. It was a greate place for me to interact, get feedback on my work and discovered new blogs to read. I used it weekly with my old blog.

Me too. It doesn’t look like they will though. My stats have really slowed since it closed.

I only dove in occasionally, but I still appreciated it. It was neat to go to one location where you could quickly “shop” for blogs and followers alike, and I miss that.

Not as far as I know. I know a few random bloggers tried, but nothing as big or lasting.
